The Cancer Care Centre at York Hospital

The Cancer Care Centre at York Hospital is here to help anyone who is, or has been, affected by cancer. Next to the Magnolia Centre at York Hospital, the Centre provides a friendly and relaxed environment away from the clinical areas of the hospital.

Patients and their families can relax inside the Cancer Care Centre and access information and a wide range of services specifically for people affected by cancer. We also have a wealth of resources to help patients understand more about their cancer and what the treatment might involve. Our dedicated team of staff are on hand to help patients and their families through any difficulties they may be facing.

So if you, or your loved ones, need a cup of tea and somewhere comfortable to sit in between appointments, would like to talk to somebody confidentially or you need benefits advice the Cancer Care Centre is here to help. You can also benefit from Cancer Psychology and Counselling, learn how to ‘Look Good…Feel Better’ and receive treatment with our complementary therapy service, as well as finding information and resources.

Attending a ‘Look Good…Feel Better’ session can help female cancer patients in a practical positive way. We host skincare and make-up workshops with specially trained teams who are dedicated to improving self-esteem, confidence and well being of people undergoing treatment for any cancer type.

The workshops can help to improve your self-image and create a sense of support, confidence, and well being. Many people say that the workshops have helped them to regain a sense of control and normality at a time when diagnosis and treatment had taken over their lives.
