Legacies to York Against Cancer

Leaving a legacy

In memoriam
Deciding which charity to support is a difficult subject at the best of times but when someone we love dies it becomes an even more impossible decision. Supporting York Against Cancer allows us to continue our many important projects and gives us the scope to look for more ways in helping and supporting cancer patients and their families in and around York.

We would be honoured if you chose to support us in memory of your loved ones.

Leaving a legacy that will help the lives of others is a special gift. Without the kindness of those people who make donations in their wills much of the work York Against Cancer does could not be funded.

At York Against Cancer we are committed to helping to make the lives of residents of York living with cancer easier. We also fund research at York University to help understand and combat the disease and carry out cancer awareness and prevention education in local schools.

A gift in your will to York Against Cancer will help us to continue to support people in York affected by cancer.

No matter how large or small, all donations are vitally important and truly appreciated.

There are several ways that you could help us through different types of legacy:

  • Residuary Gift – A gift of the remainder of the estate after all other bequests have been made and debts cleared.
  • Pecuniary Gift – This is a gift of a fixed sum of money in your will. The value of pecuniary legacies will decrease over time, as the cost of living increases.
  • Specific Gift – A particular named item left as a gift in your will – for example a piece of jewellery.
  • Contingent Gift – A gift in your will that depends upon the occurrence of an event which may or may not happen.

We recommend speaking to your solicitor if you would like to find out more about leaving a legacy.
