Dunnington Cancer Support Group’s generous donation
We’ve been blown away by a recent donation from the Dunnington Cancer Support Group following their latest coffee morning.
Entirely run by local volunteers, the Dunnington Group first began fundraising for cancer charities in 1968. Since 1997, the group have been raising money solely for York Against Cancer, donating around £16,000 every year from their charity shop, coffee mornings and fabulous fashion shows.
At their recent coffee morning, the Dunnington Group presented us with an incredible £10,000 cheque to go towards our support services. This donation will be a fantastic help in keeping our services running, helping us support cancer patients and their loved ones across the region.

To illustrate how valuable the Dunnington Group’s generosity is, this donation alone will cover the cost of over 40 families to stay at our respite property in Filey for a 3-4 night break. Similarly, donations like this can help fuel our minibus to drive cancer patients to and from their radiotherapy appointments in Leeds, go towards funding the cancer research conducted at the Jack Birch Unit in the University of York, and keep our cancer support centre, The Leveson Centre, up and running with all its many services.

To date, the total amount donated to us by the Dunnington Group amasses to more than £400,000! We would like to express our immense gratitude to all the wonderful volunteers who worked hard to make this possible.
