York Press Business Awards – Thank you for your Support!

We would like to thank the York Press 2023 Business Awards for considering The Leveson Centre as a finalist for Business Innovation of the Year.

Receiving this nomination is a fantastic achievement for The Leveson Centre and a great indication of the meaningful work conducted at the Centre on a daily basis. The category awards businesses and other organisations that are ‘bringing about change for the better’, and we couldn’t take more pride in the face The Leveson Centre made it to the final three.

Since opening in February of this year, the Centre’s impact on those affected by cancer has been overwhelmingly positive, with over 2800 people having received support so far. Whether through a phone call, a drop-in or an appointment, cancer patients and their loved ones are able to make use of services such as weekly Pilates classes, free sessions of complementary therapy, one-on-one adolescent psychological support and more.

Not only does The Leveson Centre provide somewhere for individuals to receive support, we also offer space for communities to come together – our Wellbeing Choir has taken off since starting in September, made up of patients, friends, family and York Against Cancer’s own volunteers! Similarly, our weekly coffee morning is open to anyone to pop in and have a chat with others going through similar situations.

“When creating The Leveson Centre, the key goal in its conception was to give anyone affected by cancer a place to find support, away from a clinical environment. With the generous help of our donors, volunteers and fundraising community, we wanted to create somewhere where whoever enters can feel safe and listened to. Receiving this nomination makes us immensely proud to have fostered a space that can have a positive impact on cancer support across the region for a long time to come.”
